Just read your review on Media Composer 3, I am currently using Edius 5 and I am thinking of moving up to Avid Media Composer 3, what are your thoughts on this? I am really keen on the features of Avid compared to Edius, Any help would be great, also what is the learning curve like on Avid compared to say Edius or Premiere Pro. Once again thanks for any help.
Hi, I am a high school student who enjoys creating videos and movies. I have worked with many different editing softwares, but neither FCP nor Avid. I plan on going to college for this and am wondering which software do you think is better for me? I can get either one, and I want to create high quality films.
I am fairly new at producing television commercials, and most recently I wrote and produced a documentary. My partner who recently moved from Hawaii to Alaska, edited all our work. Since we worked all the time, I had no time to learn the editing process which I so much want to do. I'm not completely green to FCP but hands on... never. I recently moved to Oregon from Hawaii and finally have some time to learn. I was told there is a Thompson Masters Series that is for beginners to advanced in Final Cut Pro. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
i have a mac pro with two dual core w/ 3.0ghz and 4 gig of ram. we are trying to figure out whether the current configuration is fast enough for motion & final cut pro and livetype program running all at the same time. i was wondering if we need to upgrade the ram memory in order to have a faster computer that can process projects quicker. what do you think? how much ram memory is enough for a total ease of operation in doing editings? thanks so much for taking your time to read and hopefully i will hear a response from you!
Now my reason for writing to you is I'm about to set up a digital audio/video production studio and i will be grateful if you could help me with what i need to invest in especially in the video
editing area.I'm from Ghana in Africa and we are now graduating into DV.We are yet to get into HD. I have been adviced to buy a mac for the desktop. Is mac the only desk top good enough for video editing and graphics. what about the imac. Now with software I'm very confused since there is too much of them.but after reading your piece i'm leaning towards final cut. what do you say.i need advice on the very good 3D and graphics and effects. I have already purchased 2 panasonic md10000 pal camcorders. My budget is limited so something affordable is what i'm looking at. Waiting on your response.
I have been an audio engineer/mixer here at the 2nd biggest production facility in the US located in Nashville, Tennessee since early 1996. I was wondering what the production climate is like up there in Ontario? The reason I ask is that I'm getting married next month to a Canadian woman and moving to Windsor. I'm Pro Tools certified and have worked on FCP, Vegas, Digital Performer, Nuendo, Logic, etc.. I know that Toronto and Windsor are a few hours apart, but wanted to get your opinion on production in Ontario since you've been in the industry there as long as I have here. Any pointers, insights, and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....
