You have the program to make all these cool DVD’s, but you also need a program to create labels quickly and easily. That’s where Disc Cover 2 comes in. Choose from a variety of backgrounds, borders and images to add a bit of flair to any label for any type of disc.

ROXIO STREAMER VIDEO STREAMING SOFTWARE

I always thought this was a cool program. Roxio’s Streamer let’s you stream not only video but television from you Mac at home (or the office) to your iPhone, Mac or PC via the internet. All you have to do is create an account and log-in via the website http://streamer.roxio.com/YourShortName. Something important to keep in mind about this is that you need to have the “server” computer (the one that the videos are located on) turned on. Roxio’s server just acts as a hub between your computer and the world. This program is great for people like me who are working on projects that they need clients to approve right away.

DISCCATALOGMAKER DISC CATALOGING SOFTWARE

DiscCatalogMaker is a good and simple way to catalog all the discs you’ve made on your computer. Again, much like the rest of Toast, you really don’t have to do anything, as DCM does everything for you, and organizes you, so you can find things easier.

GET BACKUP 2 RE BACKUP SOFTWARE

Get Backup is a simple way to backup a file, folder, project or even a full hard drive to any medium you want. Backing up is as simple as dragging and dropping the file, folder or drive you want archived, selecting the format you are going to (CD, DVD or hard drive), and clicking “Go”. You can even set a schedule of when you want things archived. Great for Mac users who are not big on Leopard, and need a quick way of backing things up.

 

With all of Toast’s burning and DVD creation features and all the additional programs, Toast 10 Titanium is a steal. But what if I told you there is more!

That’s right, Toast 10 Titanium comes in a “Pro” bundle as well, and what Roxio has included is unbelievable. With the “Pro” version, you get all the features of Toast 10 Titanium as well as:

HD/BD PLUG-IN

What would normally cost you an extra $20 is now included in the “Pro” version of Toast 10 Titanium. Big deal, you say? Well, for people like me it is. This plug-in not only let’s me create Blu-rays, and burn them onto a Blu-ray disc, but it also let’s me burn my TiVo HD, EyeTV HD, AVCHD and Quicktime HD files onto a regular DVD and play it back in true HD on my Playstation 3 (Blu-ray Player).

 

SOUNDSOAP

When you shoot home videos, you know that in many cases you have ambient noise that comes along with any shooting location. Well, now you can use SoundSoap to remove that ambient, “constant” noise like the hum of an air conditioner or any other “white noise” you may run into in your travels. I reviewed SoundSoap Pro for DMN, and I thought it was excellent. This isn’t the Pro version, but with the “Learn Noise” command, removing noise will be quick and easy.

SONICFIRE PRO

Do you want a custom music track for your movies? SonicFire Pro from SmartSound is a very user friendly music creation program that gives you complete control over almost every aspect of your music from the duration all the way up to where you want a particular instrument to start in a song. You can also use SonicFire Pro’s easy-to-use interface to preview and purchase new tracks to suit any video you might be working on. I am using it now for a thirty episode training video that I am working on, and needless to say, that by slight modifications to five music tracks, I have created over twenty new one!

FOTOMAGICO

Create stunning HD slide shoes right from your iPhoto, Aperture or Lightroom photo libraries quickly and easily with transitions. Simple to use, easy to impress with!

LIGHTZONE

Have you always wanted to edit your photos, but Photoshop or Aperture is too expensive? That’s where LightZone comes in. With RAW format support, and an easy to use interface, you can take photos that you weren’t originally happy with and fix them to look they way you wanted them to.

 

Now, looking at these programs on their own, here’s a price breakdown of what you would be paying:

I have to say that I'm really impressed at the leaps and bounds Toast makes with each edition that comes out. If you still think that Toast is just for burning CD's and DVD's, you probably haven't checked it out in a while....a long while! If you are even considering purchasing Toast, I say don't even bother with the standard edition, and just go for the "Pro" edition. You definitely can't go wrong!
